Just Moved to Lagos? Start Here.

Lagos is enormous and can feel impossible to break into socially. Q4 Experiences is how you fix that. Intimate events, maximum 20 guests, all designed so people actually connect.

The Lagos newcomer problem

Moving to Lagos when you don't have a ready-made social circle is a specific kind of hard. The city is vast, the social fabric is dense, and breaking into existing groups of people who've known each other for years is genuinely difficult. This is true whether you've moved from another Nigerian city, returned from abroad, or relocated internationally.

The standard advice — go to events, be proactive — is correct but incomplete. Most Lagos social events are either too large to actually meet people or too small and private to get into without an existing connection.

Why Q4 events work for newcomers

Every Q4 Experiences event is designed with the stranger in mind. The icebreaker at the start is not a formality — it is the mechanism by which you go from a room of strangers to a room of people who know each other's names. The activity provides a shared focus. The time at the end provides the space for conversations to continue.

The October calendar is specifically good for newcomers. The format is new for everyone. Nobody has an established Q4 friend group yet. October is when the social fabric of the whole programme is still forming.

  • Go to the pottery sessions — eight guests, hands in clay, full attention required
  • Go to the cooking classes — teams of strangers who cook together
  • Go to the social evenings — designed explicitly for people who don't know each other
  • Go to the paint nights — the most solo-friendly format on the calendar

Every person in that room chose to show up. You already have something in common before the evening begins.

The WhatsApp community

After every Q4 session, a WhatsApp group is created for attendees. Optional to join. But for newcomers this is often where the connection that started in the session continues. By November, attendees who joined in October have built a real network. It starts with one event.
